Making Clay
Rainy day? Cory the Clown takes out things from the kitchen and
makes a clay necklace.
See what you can make. Try making a snake, or a flower, or just
use your imagination!
Here is the recipe to make clay:
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups salt
- 3/4 cup water
- Food coloring
Mix the first three ingredients together. If it's too moist, add
salt. If it's too dry, add a few drops of water (remember that the
food coloring will also add moisture). Divide the mixture into five
equal parts and color each with food coloring.
To make a necklace, you need a shoelace with plastic tips. Take
pieces of clay and make little balls about an inch in diameter. Poke
a hole in both ends of the clay with the shoelace tip. Let it dry (it
takes about a week.) When finished, string the clay beads on the
shoelace. If you want them shiny, ask mom, dad, or an adult at home
to spray them with spray shellac or have them paint the balls with
clear nail polish and let dry.
